Johnny Gaudreau: From the Calgary Flames to the Columbus Blue Jackets

Early Life and Career

Johnny Gaudreau was born in Carneys Point, New Jersey, on August 13, 1993. He began playing ice hockey at a young age and quickly emerged as a talented player.

Gaudreau played for the Dubuque Fighting Saints of the United States Hockey League (USHL) from 2010 to 2012. During his time with the Fighting Saints, he was named the USHL Player of the Year in 2011-12.

College Career

Gaudreau played college hockey for Boston College from 2012 to 2014. In his sophomore season, he led the NCAA in scoring with 36 goals and 44 assists.

Gaudreau was named the Hobey Baker Award winner as the top player in college hockey in 2014.

NHL Career

Calgary Flames

Gaudreau was drafted by the Calgary Flames in the fourth round (104th overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. He made his NHL debut with the Flames in the 2014-15 season.

Gaudreau quickly established himself as a top player in the NHL. He has been named to the NHL All-Star Game six times and has led the Flames in scoring three times.

Columbus Blue Jackets

On July 13, 2022, Gaudreau signed a seven-year, $68.25 million contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Gaudreau is expected to be a key player for the Blue Jackets in the upcoming season.
