It isn't every week that The Simpsons kills off a named resident of Springfield, so longtime fans of the show were shocked to learn that Larry the ear bender had been killed off in the latest episode. Larry, who was voiced by Hank Azaria, was a recurring character on the show since its very first episode in 1989. He was known for his bizarre behavior, his long-winded stories, and his habit of bending people's ears.

In the episode "The Man Who Grew Too Much," Larry is accidentally killed by Homer Simpson. Homer is trying to fix the roof of his house when he accidentally drops a hammer on Larry's head. Larry dies instantly, and Homer is devastated.

The death of Larry the ear bender has come as a shock to many fans of The Simpsons. The character was a fan favorite, and his death is sure to leave a hole in the show. However, co-executive producer Matt Selman says that Larry's death was necessary for the show to move forward.

"Larry was a great character, but he had run his course," Selman says. "We felt that it was time to give him a proper send-off, and we think that we did that in this episode."

Fans of The Simpsons will miss Larry the ear bender, but they can take comfort in knowing that he will always be remembered as one of the show's most iconic characters.
