Early Life and Family
Ronald Joseph Corbett MacLean, affectionately known as Ron MacLean, was born on April 12, 1960, in Zweibrücken, West Germany. His parents moved back to Canada when he was just 14 months old, initially settling in Chester, Nova Scotia. By the time MacLean was four years old, his family had relocated to Red Deer, Alberta.

MacLean spent his formative years in Red Deer, where he developed a passion for sports. He excelled in hockey and track and field, eventually earning a spot in the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame for his athletic achievements.
Career in Broadcasting
MacLean's broadcasting career began in 1984 when he joined TSN, Canada's leading sports network. His charisma and natural storytelling ability quickly propelled him to prominence as a hockey commentator. MacLean became synonymous with the network's iconic "Hockey Night in Canada" program, which he has anchored alongside Don Cherry since 1986.
